BIG ONE starring ALAN, ANYA and CAROLINE
We have been gathering images that inspire the way we want to curate the exhibition (see below). We don't want it to be too bland and minimalist so we are hoping to create an ordered mess. Sketchbooks on shelves, garments on rails, stands, coat stands/ hanging from somewhere etc. In order to achieve this we need to collect as much work as possible. We hope that you will submit as much work as you can; including sketchbooks, portfolios, garments, images, films, anything you want. We have garment rails, stands, shelves, projectors, tables, lamps, possibly some light boxes, a tv and whatever else we think of along the way. We are also keen to work with you if you want to present your work a certain way. The deadline for images and films is Tuesday 23rd June (Films must be sent as quicktime files). We will arrange a way for you to drop other work off to us, we will keep you updated on that.

Other news...
We filmed another clip last night and we are editing it this morning. Stay tuned to see some hot moves...
We are getting ever closer to securing an after party venue, hopefully in soho so we dont have to travel too far

The Big One has a venue. Superstar Sue Foulston and the powers that be have offered us a space on the forth floor of the Charing Cross building.

As well as a digital projector we have access to stands and two rails meaning we are now able to display garments. Due to the limited number of stands we have at our disposal garments will be displayed on a first come first serve basis so those wishing to submit garments please email us photographs ASAP.

We are also compiling a slide show of students work to be shown via digital projection. The content could be anything from photoshoots to illustrations, sketchbook pages, independent work or even film. The show is intended as an antidote to the traditional crit format so surprise us with your entries.

For more details about what format etc we need everything in please check the facebook page.

We have started making the first in a series of videos that will act as advertisements for the event. They are basically taking the piss and every so often we will upload a new video of one of us, so keep checking for updates.

Today it was Suzy’s turn.

For the past couple of days we have been brainstorming ideas about the event, whether to have an exhibition or a party or both. And what should be involved in it.  We have been searching for a decent venue and starting to gather research etc…

STARRING SUZY SONG

This blog is going to act as our sketchbook for the whole project. It’s a means of communicating with you and keeping you updated on everything that we are doing throughout the whole process. It will document our research and development in the form of images, videos and journal entries.

CENTRAL ST MARTINS BIG ONE

As part of the Turning Point project Womenswear group B students are hosting an end of year event offering first year fashion students the chance to display their work in an exhibition environment. The event will showcase the work of students while also acting as a networking opportunity providing Fashion year one the chance to operate as a community rather than separate pathways. Exposure to the work of peers within our own discipline offers the potential for future collaborations and the exchange of ideas between pathways, something which we feel is not possible under the traditional critic format.
